Growing up I spent a lot of time at my family’s cottage enjoying many sports including dirt biking, wakeboarding, kayaking and snowboarding. In my early 20’s dance caught my interest and I moved to Mexico to study and progress as a Latin Dancer. Once I returned home, I taught Ballroom and Latin Dance at Social Ease Dance Studio in St. Catharines, Ontario and trained in Contemporary Pilates.
Eventually my sports and dance injuries caught up with me and I felt my body was failing me. I tried everything from chiropractic treatments and osteopathy, to physiotherapy and yoga, without much success and relief was temporary. My physiotherapist suggested I quit dance, as it was causing havoc in my damaged shoulder joints. But this was my passion and I wasn’t ready to just quit! Determined, I continued my search and stumbled across the Gyrotonic Method®. Soon after my training, I began to feel relief and an opening in my body I had never felt before. Surpassing my expectations, not only did I end up healing my injuries but I drastically improved my dance and sports performance!
Experiencing the results firsthand, I knew I wanted to become an instructor and share this method with others who, like me, had to give up their passions due to injury and pain. I enjoyed the training so much and the hands on approach that makes the Gyrotonic Method so successful that I decided to dive into the health and fitness field, becoming a licensed massage therapist, and studied at the SomaTraining Institute in Montreal for ELDOA and Myofascial Stretching. I taught and practiced massage at Studio Anicca in Montreal for 4 years with my colleague Melanie Castonguay.
Recently, I have moved back to Ontario to open my own studio. I’m excited to help you on your own body journey. Whether it’s to improve your athletic abilities, return to your passion or start something new entirely. Using a combination of these trainings, along with my personal experience and expertise, I have had great success getting my clients to where they want to be in their bodies.
